Sonoscopia is a space for artists involved in experimental, improvised and electro-acoustic music. It is a shared space by a regular core of people who live in and manage the space with a view to the development of artistic projects with the support of appropriate technical resources. The objectives of the artistic residency at Sonoscopia are the creation of experimental musical content, preferentially directly related to the artistic line of the association. The Sonoscopia space has been designed to meet the needs of the different stages of creative projects: executive production, research, rehearsals, audio and video recordings and short informal presentations. The space is shared by a permanent group open to the participation of Portuguese and international collaborators who want to make use of the physical conditions offered by the space and also the creative environmental experienced in the space.

Recipients

National and International artists with interest in working in the fields of music and sound art. The artists in residence shall be committed to document the work, make a presentation and authorize its publication on the website of Sonoscopia.

Selection

Proposal with synopsis, artistic and technical information, bios/ description of the candidate, links to websites and other useful information (videos, clippings, etc.). Works that maintain a relationship with the city, with its artists and its inhabitants are specially appreciated.

The artists in residence at Sonoscopia have access to accommodation for up to five people; use of work rooms; use of recording studios and technical equipment; use of workshop and available tools; technical support; publicity and communication through the regular means of Sonoscopia. All the equipment (audio, lighting, video) is shared. The space was designed for versatility of use. Although some rooms are for individual occupancy, all were designed to be communicating and can be adapted to individual and collective creative projects.

InResidence

InResidence is a platform that offers artists opportunities to develop their work, in the visual arts and other artistic disciplines, in various spaces in the city of Porto. InResidence is structured across two projects: Municipal Ateliers of Porto and Residency Spaces.
Municipal Ateliers of Porto is a new initiative for contemporary artistic creation support in the form of workspaces made available to visual artists at affordable rents during a 3-year period.
Residency Spaces encompasses non-municipal cultural projects that offer various opportunities for artistic residencies to national and international artists, with accommodation included.
