Espaço MIRA (MIRA Space) is a gallery fundamentally linked to photography and its relationship to other arts and knowledge. Develops a program of exhibitions, which seeks to think the expanded field of photography, i.e. reflect the photo in its multiple aspects: performance, memory, painting and architecture.
The artistic residencies in the MIRA galleries are intended for research, artistic production and cultural sharing. The projects are developed through the provision of the space for creation, research and residency, if justified.

Selection

Proposals for the production of work and its presentation in exhibitions in the space or by direct invitation of the curators.

The proposals must be related to the space (either because they are not compatible with a studio or through the creation of site specific works). At the end of each artistic residency, the presentation of the work will be scheduled. The residencies may host artists who are conducting research with the aim of presenting their project. Artists may only stay for the time necessary to develop their project. Artists who live in Porto may only use the space for creation. Artists from outside may stay in accomodation for the time pre-defined for completion of their projects.

InResidence

InResidence is a platform that offers artists opportunities to develop their work, in the visual arts and other artistic disciplines, in various spaces in the city of Porto. InResidence is structured across two projects: Municipal Ateliers of Porto and Residency Spaces.
Municipal Ateliers of Porto is a new initiative for contemporary artistic creation support in the form of workspaces made available to visual artists at affordable rents during a 3-year period.
Residency Spaces encompasses non-municipal cultural projects that offer various opportunities for artistic residencies to national and international artists, with accommodation included.
