Biography

Dayana Lucas (Caracas, 1987) develops practical research in the field of ​​drawing with a special interest in the transition to sculpture, using different materials such as concrete, wood or metal.

She also works as a designer in the area of ​​culture and has collaborated with musicians, visual artists and several Portuguese cultural institutions. She was a co-founder of Oficina Arara, where, until 2017, she developed work in the field of ​​design and printing, exploring various manual techniques, and also organised exhibitions, workshops and meetings with Porto’s artistic community. Since 2010 she has collaborated with the SOOPA collective and in 2019 created the ORINOCO project, dedicated to book publishing and other artists’ publications.

Her different solo exhibitions include Um at the Wrong Weather Gallery (2018), Espírito Manual at the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art (2018), Pedra em Flor (Stone in Bloom) at Seismograph (2019) and Negro Secretoat the Galeria Lehmann + Silva (2019). In recent years she has also participated in various group exhibitions in spaces such as the CIAJG - Centro Internacional das Artes José de Guimarães (Guimarães, Portugal); Bienal de Arte Contemporânea da Maia (Maia, Portugal); PORTA33 (Funchal, Portugal) e Sesc Pompéia (São Paulo, Brasil).
